SPIRITUS SANCTUS
Young writers present their work

Students have been taught at the Kollegium Spiritus Sanctus since 1662. Since then many bright and otherwise unusual minds have graduated from these walls. Today the Kollegium is still a forge for elite students in the Upper Valais. At the same time, the institutions has adapted to societal changes. As a result, in this extensive campus behind the Stockalper Palace there is now more instruction in English and Sports than in Greek and Latin.

Reason enough to ask a few of the more than one thousand students what they associate with the term ‘Spiritus Sanctus’. In the framework of a two-day writing workshop, the writers Christine Pfammatter and Richard Reich assigned this topic to two classes at the Kollegium. The students were given no formal constraints and so were inspired to write in all manner of genres, from short stories, to poems, to mini-dramas.

A selection of this ‘very latest literature from the Valais’ will be presented in the context of a workshop reading — a youthful variation of the Leukerbad Literature Festival, the international rendez-vous of great literature.
